The Continent of Folland was a land plagued by decades of war, waged between enormous mobile fortresses…

Upon this continent was a tiny kingdom named Mamatoto—a nation so small it consisted of only a single mobile fortress. Yet what this fortress lacked in size, it more than made up for in speed. Mamatoto survived the maelstrom of conflict by deftly fleeing the larger, slower fortresses controlled by other countries.

King Kakaro of Mamatoto was once renowned as a martial master, and his son, General Nanas, was known even in other nations to be a tactician of extraordinary skill. While Kakaro’s valiant days on the battlefield had come to an end, Nanas had Mamatoto’s military tactics well in hand.

To the continent’s northeast lay the Monster Realm, a land of danger and death. In that realm was a most unusual cave—The Othergrotto. Within this grotto, so the legends claimed, was a powerful rift to worlds beyond. “There’s gotta be something amazing at the end of it…”

Those who heard the tales clung tight to these baseless hopes, seeing no reason to doubt the grotto’s mysterious allure…
Seeking the potential of treasure within the grotto, many have attempted to plumb its depths. Some have even assaulted the cave with entire armies. Alas, the cavern simply swallowed each explorer up. The legends that spoke of wondrous power also spoke of a bleak fact: that not a single soul who entered this place had ever returned…

Despite the risk, King Kakaro of Mamatoto had long desired to conquer the Othergrotto. Thus, the curtain rises upon this tale… As young Nanas finally perfects the device that may well grant his father’s wishes…

What Nanas had invented was a magical tool capable of summoning powerful heroes from other worlds. Self-assurance fueling him, Nanas called his father forth and activated the device. It whirred and clunked as the gates were thrown wide, and the mighty champion from beyond finally appeared!

…At least, that’s what was supposed to happen. Instead, a tiny girl stepped out from the machine…

Arietta: “Nyo? Where am I, nyo?”
Nanas: “U-Umm… Uhh… This is Mamatoto.”
Arietta: “…Mamanyonyo?”
